Vissing determined to grasp his big chance
CLAUS Vissing believes he has the perfect conditions in which to become an Elite League success story.

The 20 year-old Dane has been handed a dream ticket to the big time by Panthers bosses after just one season of Premier League racing – quite a surprise for a rider who was on the receiving of the club's record victory last year.

Vissing was a guest in the witless Wolverhampton side smashed 66-24 at Alwalton last September, but the young Dane stood out in a dismal set of opponents.

His gutsy performance that night and subsequent impressive guest outings for the city side convinced the Peterborough hierarchy to include Vissing in their 2008 outfit.

Now the rider is adamant he will grasp the opportunity to establish himself in the top flight with both hands.

Vissing is sure the combination of a track he loves and riding alongside respected countrymen will be invaluable.

"I really liked the track when I rode here as a guest for Wolverhampton," said Vissing. "It was a bad night for my team as we lost by a lot of points, but I scored a few and loved it here.

"It was nice to ride a few meetings for Panthers as well at the end of last year and I was really excited when Peterborough offered me a contract for this year.

"To have the Showground as a home track is a dream and it will be brilliant to ride here every week, especially because there are so many Danes in the team.

"We can all help each other out and it is a privilege to be able to ride alongside the top boys in our country like Hans Andersen and Kenneth Bjerre."

Vissing was an impressive performer in the second tier of the sport for Stoke last season.

He is expected to vastly improve his 3.00 starting average in the Elite League.
