Showground can be Risager's home sweet home
MORTEN Risager is out to make the East of England Showground his home sweet home.

His summer loan switch to Peterborough certainly raised plenty of sets of eyebrows as Risager is yet to enjoy a really productive meeting around the 336 metres of terrifyingly fast Alwalton terrain.

Even Risager himself admitted during the winter that he could appreciate why his arrival received a largely lukewarm response on internet forums.

But he is convinced he can be a big hit in these parts once he has adapted to life at one of speedway's fastest outposts.

Risager said: "I have not really done very well here with my other teams but I will learn the track quickly and get myself dialled in to racing here on a regular basis.

"The track is really fast and I hope to tap into the experience of the guys who were here last year to find out the best way to ride it.

"It is important for every rider to score well at his home track and I intend to manage that here."

Despite being the youngest member of the Panthers line-up at 20, Risager is actually one of the most experienced men in the city side.

This will be his fifth campaign of British racing and the most important of his career so far.

Risager added: "I have been over here a long time now and it is about time I started upping my average.

"I have had a couple of bad injuries that kept me out for a long time, but I know all the tracks in England and I hope to be a good source of points both at home and away.

"I had a good spell at Eastbourne last season in the main body of their team and I am confident I can improve further up here."

And Risager has moved quickly to instigate a friendly rivalry with new team-mate Kenneth Bjerre.

"I hope to get Kenneth's place as second heat leader in the team," continued Risager. "It might be a tall order but I am up for the challenge and that is my aim for the season."
