Bjerre set to benefit from an English base
Kenneth Bjerre is convinced a better lifestyle off the track will radically improve his results on it.
The Panthers ace is in the process of setting up home in the area and reckons that will help him enjoy English speedway a whole lot more.
And that is likely to spell bad news for his Elite League rivals as Bjerre bids to challenge the authority of countryman Hans Andersen as Panthers number one.
Bjerre said: "I have never enjoyed racing in England as much as the other countries in the past. The reason for that is all the travelling and the fact I don't really spend any time here.
"So I decided the best way to put it right was to buy a house in England and set up my home here.
"I hope to be moving in to Huntingdon in the next few weeks and I will be bringing my girlfriend over here as well.
"Flying into the country on the day of a meeting and going straight home again is not ideal. It gets really frustrating when the weather is bad and meetings are called off . . . and we had loads of them last year.
"Now instead of having to find somewhere to stay or go straight back to the airport, I can go to my own home, eat properly and sleep well in my own bed."
His winter relocation means Bjerre will be residing in the same town as Panthers sidekick Danny King.
And he believes he is moving to the perfect location to make his hectic schedule of racing in four different countries go as smoothly as possible.
"I will only be living a couple of minutes away from Danny and it will be good to spend a bit of time with him," added Bjerre.
"Huntingdon is the perfect location for me. It is on the A14, close to Peterborough and not far from Stansted which is the airport I always use when coming into and leaving England.
"My house purchase has been delayed a few times through the winter but it should go through at the end of this month and I can't wait to start living here."
And he can't wait to launch the new season either. Bjerre's big aim for 2008 is to secure a place in next year's World Championship and he fancies giving old pal Andersen a run for his money around Alwalton as well.
Bjerre continued: "I want to be world champion and I am very ambitious.
"This is the year I have to qualify for the GPs because it is the place where I feel I need to be riding.
"I had a solid first year with Peterborough but I certainly want to improve on it this season.
"I really want to push Hans for the number one slot."
Kenneth Bjerre believes rookie reserve Claus Vissing can be the club's secret weapon in 2008.
A high-scoring reserve rider is a crucial part of any successful speedway team and Bjerre reckons Panthers have found their man in Vissing.
Bjerre, one of five Danish riders in the Peterborough fold this year, said: "I really think Claus can be the trump card for us.
"I think he is going to have a really good season and get a lot of points.
"All teams need a reserve to go very well and I am sure Claus will do fur us.
"The new system means England is not such a strong league as it used to be but we have a lot of riders who can improve."
