Vigil in Peterborough for Labour MP

A vigil is being held in Peterborough in memory of the Labour MP Jo Cox.

Mrs Cox was shot and stabbed in Birstall, West Yorkshire yesterday (Thursday, June 16).

A man has since been arrested by police.

The vigil is being held this afternoon at 4.30pm outside the Town Hall in Bridge Street.

A book of condolence will also be opened.

The vigil is the second to take place in Peterborough this week.

On Tuesday evening, a vigil was held at the Holocaust Memorial, St John the Baptist church, Cathedral Square, in solidarity with the people who lost their lives in the recent Orlando shootings.

The vigil was hosted by the Peterborough LGBT Equality Council.
