A seven-year-old boy was knocked over by a motorbike in a hit-and-run incident.

The victim was walking home along Redmile Walk, Welland, at about 3.10pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday, June 16) when a motocross type bike, being ridden on the footpath, struck him before making off towards Eye Road.

The boy suffered slight injuries and the ambulance service was called as a precaution but he was not taken to hospital.

The motorcyclist was described as wearing a black jumper and white shorts.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.

PC Chris Boother said: “This incident could have quite easily caused a lot more harm and so I would urge anyone who may have seen something to get in contact.”
