Members of the award-winning Peterborough Youth Choir recently visited Buckden Towers for their sixth annual residential weekend.
They thoroughly enjoyed two days of fun, football and food as well as an enormous amount of singing, working on a mixed repertoire including everything from Mozart to Disney which they performed in an informal concert for parents on Sunday evening.
William Prideaux, director of Peterborough Youth Choir and associated music education charity Peterborough Sings! is developing boys’ choirs at schools across the city as part of the charity’s outreach programme, with a specific focus on addressing the challenges faced by boys with changing voices.
Boys from Longthorpe and Ravensthorpe schools were invited on the weekend to work intensively with the Peterborough Youth Choir boys in preparation for their forthcoming trip to Cornwall, where they will participate in the prestigious Cornwall International Male Choral Festival in Truro at the end of April.
