OUTSTANDING Oundle pupils bagged more of the highest grades at GCSE than ever before.
Some 87 per cent of talented teenagers scooped A*s or As and for the fourth year in a row, the proportion of A* grades was higher than A grades.

And 100 per cent got 5 or more A*-C grades with 99.5% getting 5 or more including Maths and English

Sixteen pupils achieved straight A* grades, including Annabel Cooke and Lucinda Curzon.

A clutch of pupils were commended by the Edexcel Examination Board for being among the top ten pupils in the country in GCSE english language, including Jacob Dillarstone and Sophia MacAskill.

Director of studies Martin Collier said: "These results represent a tremendous achievement across a wide range of subjects at a very high level.

"The pupils have worked extremely hard and fully deserve these excellent results. Coupled with the performance of Oundle's A level candidates last week, these results demonstrate that Oundle maintains its position as an academic leader."
