YOUNGSTERS at Nene Valley Primary School, in Sugar Way, have channelled their artistic energy to create masterpieces to hang in the school hall.
Pupils in all classes worked with artist Sue Rowland to create five themed panels depicting the diversity of the world.

One hanging is a mosaic of images showing multi-cultural aspects of the city, and includes a mosque and the cathedral.

Themes for the other panels include the environment and the solar system, all ideas which the children came up with themselves and designed.

Friends of Nene Valley Primary School raised the funds for the scheme, which is part of the school’s global dimension project to explore worldwide issues.

Headteacher Stuart Mansell said: “Hopefully, the hangings will last for 20 years and it would be great to see the children come back in a few years’ time and see something incredible they’ve contributed to.

“The fact that every child in school was involved is something very special.”

The idea behind the project is to create a piece of history for the school, which opened six years ago.

The panels will be hung on the walls of the school hall during the Christmas holiday, ready for the children to see when they return to school in January.
