It was third time lucky for Bryan Steel who claimed a bronze medal in the 4k team pursuit in Australia.

Steel had competed in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996, but a move to Peterborough clearly agreed with him as he claimed his medal aged 31.

The British quartet crushed the Olympic and British records on their way to finishing third and only missed out on a shot at gold when their Ukranian semi-final opponents promptly smashed the world record.
