I am writing in to response to Councillor Paula Thacker’s letter after granting a licence to a new off licence on Lincoln Road.

I don’t belong to a political party, however as a resident of the Millfield area I strongly object to the licensing of the hypermarket as an off licence.

As chairman of the city council’s licensing committee it is her first and utmost duty to think and do what is in best interest of residents of Millfield.

There are more than 70 off licences on Lincoln Road so we don’t require any more, as due to all these premises we are already facing so many problems every day.

My daughters and wife, or even young members of a family, are not able to walk down Lincoln Road on their own. There are so many times when troubles haven’t been even reported.

Every morning, Lincoln Road is full of empty cans, bottles and a lot of rubbish. I invite you (cllr Thacker) to walk down Lincoln Road as it looks like you haven’t been this side for a long time.

Due to these off licences, anti-social behaviour has increased to such a high level. Just because someone has presented their application in a proper manner is not a reason to give that person a licence.

I strongly feel you haven’t done your job properly, you should resign and let somebody else take the responsibility who can deal with this matter properly
and if you don’t resign the council leader should get you sacked.

Mr Mahmood

Millfield,

Peterborough
