Thanks to the generosity of guests at a charity gangster night more than £1,000 was raised for two Peterborough based charities.

The event was held at Italian restaurant, Vesuvio, in Eastgate Mews, Whittlesey, and featured live singing from singer Peter Jay, a five course meal and a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses from Peterborough and Whittlesey.

The money will be split 50/50 between Heal, a charity set up by Westwood clinic GP, Dr Koneru Prasad to provide education and healthcare for needy children in India, and the Thorpe Hall Hospice appeal.

An anonymous bid of £125 on the night brought the raffle total to £875.

Event organiser Sgt Paul Harris said: “The night was truly awesome. We had 50 people attend and it was a real genuine fun night which helps make the event so valued.”
