A Peterborough group are competing in the World Street Dance Championships this weekend.
The group called the Allotrope Dance Company will be representing the UK at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30.
The group are competing in the under-18 catergory.
Their members are: Michaela Batyiova, Kolo Chilufya, Hollie Grant, Bradley Ring, Gina Perry, Kyan Andrews and Chloe Mason.
They are coached by Liam Mizra and Will Webster.
Liam said the group brings more than just dancing to young people. In addition, it helps youngsters who might be skipping school but are attending their classes instead.
Liam added: “We are not just a company we are a family. It’s like seeing your little brother or sister doing bad and wanting to stop them doing it.
“We want them always to achieve so we sit them down and say ‘why are you not turning up to classes’? ‘why are you skipping school’? or ‘why are you being rude to this teacher’?
“A lot of the time they need to hear that to sink in and hear that people care about them.
“I don’t class myself as a dance teacher, I class myself as a mentor.
“I want them to succeed. We want them to achieve whatever they can.”
