Friday, 4.30pm: Hundreds of well-wishers lined the streets of Peterborough to greet the 1st Battalion of the Royal Anglian Regiment as they paraded through the city centre today.
The crowds cheered and applauded as the soldiers marched through the city on their return from serving in Afghanistan.
The parade started at 12.30pm at the junction of Cross Street and Church Street, with an inspection on Cathedral Square, before passing down Bridge Street to Peterborough Town Hall.
In a speech to the gathered crowds Peterborough Mayor George Simons thanked the troops for their work.
Mr Simons said: “We are delighted to see you all. It is a great day for everyone.
“We are proud of our association with you and I hope you enjoy the parade.”
