Nine people have been arrested on suspicion of entering the UK illegally after they were found in a lorry on a dual carriageway early this morning, Friday September 18.
Police were called to the A14 near Cambridge at around 5.20am today after a motorist saw a torch shining from the trailer of an articulated lorry.
The vehicle was then escorted to Cambridge services where the group was discovered.
A Home Office spokesman said a short time ago: The group were all male and included three Iranians, five Iraqis and one Syrian. All nine remain in police custody.
“Two of the group, an Iranian and an Iraqi, claim to be minors and are due to be independently age assessed by social services.”
Earlier, it was reported that the men had been taken to the police investigation centre in King’s Lynn, while the teenagers were taken to the Thorpe Wood police station in Peterborough.
