Chris’s impact on Peterborough was recognised by civic leaders in the city.
Council leader Marco Cereste said: “He did a tremendous job for Posh, and that was very helpful with the prospects of the city.
“His value to the city was great, and there are lots of things the city can do to remember him, if it is appropriate. He used to visit the Italian Association events, and I got to know him there. He should be remembered as a great bloke and a nice man.”
Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr David Over, said: “It was with great sadness the city learnt of the death of Chris Turner on Monday. He truly was a local legend and will leave a lasting legacy of sporting memories for the many fans of Peterborough United both within the city and around the world. The council is supporting Peterborough United with its plans to commemorate Chris’s life in what will surely be a bittersweet occasion for many in the city.”
