UPDATE: Peterborough man electrocuted on the tracks at Grantham causing 60 minute delays to trains

A Peterborough man has been airlifted to hospital after being electrocuted on the tracks near Grantham Train Station this afternoon, Thursday April 28.

There are delays of up to 60 minutes on trains through the station this afternoon, and National Rail say this is expected to continue until approximately 5pm.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Our officers were called to Grantham railway station on Thursday, 28 April, after receiving reports at 14.59 of an injured person on the tracks just outside the station.

“When they arrived they discovered a man with serious burns to his legs. It is believed the man, who is 27-year-old and from Peterborough, had been electrocuted.

“The man was treated at the scene by paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance service and has been taken to Queens Medical Centre hospital by air ambulance.

“Officers are now working to determine how the man sustained his injuries.”

British Transport Police have been made aware but the incident is currently causing delays to East Midlands Trains between Liverpool Lime Street and Norwich, and also between Skegness and Nottingham, Grand Central between Bradford Interchange / Sunderland and London Kings Cross, Hull Trains between Hull and London Kings Cross and Virgin Trains East Coast between Aberdeen / Edinburgh / Stirling / Leeds / York and London Kings Cross.
