Two women who died in a collision near Huntingdon on Saturday evening (September 19) have been named by police.

Margaret Oliver, known as Peggy, 84, of Parkes Road, Chigwell in Essex was driving her silver Nissan Micra in Ramsey Road, Kings Ripton, at about 7.45pm when it collided with a black Nissan Qashqai.

Sadly Peggy died at the scene, along with her front seat passenger, 77-year-old Joy Carr, also from the Essex area.

A passenger in the rear of the Micra, a woman in her early 50s from the Kent area, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with serious injuries where she remains in a stable condition.

The driver and passenger of the Qashqai suffered minor injuries.

Sergeant Simon Goldsmith from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “The driver of the Qashqai recalls seeing a car pass them at the time of the collision so I am appealing to whoever was in that car to get in touch with us urgently.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or either of the vehicles in the moments leading up to it should call the road policing unit on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or report via their website www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
