Last Tuesday (13 January) Helpston residents were given the chance to see proposals for the closure of level crossings in the area.

Network Rail propose replacing crossing with bridges at Tallington and Helpston and closing the other crossings at less used points.

Helpston Parish Council chairman Joe Dobson said: “I think the consultation does show Network Rail has listened to what people have said.

“I was there with other parish councillors, and the hall filled up very quickly.”

A Network Rail spokesman said around 150 visitors had attended at each of the events held so far.

There is another exhibition in Tallington village hall on Saturday, 31 January from 11am to 2pm.
