Daily and weekly bus prices have risen in Peterborough.

The price of a Dayrider ticket has risen by 10p for the second year running and is £4.10.

We never like to increase our fares but unfortunately our costs continue to rise.

A weekly paper Megarider ticket has gone up by 50p from £13.50 to £14 and a smart price Megarider ticket has increased from £13 to £13.50.

The fare increase began on Sunday, March 29.

Andy Campbell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East, said: “We never like to increase our fares but unfortunately our costs continue to rise.

“We try to keep a rise to a minimum and we always invest in the company.

“We have had notices of the far rise in all of our buses.”

John Fox, an independent Peterborough City Councillor and Peterborough parliamentary candidate, said: “I hate to see any increase in public transport.

“My biggest fear has always been people not being able to get out the house so I want to encourage more people to use public transport.”
