The A1 in Cambridgeshire was closed on the northbound carriageway today, Friday, after a car rolled a number of times having hit a police vehicle.

A police spokesman told the Peterborough Telegraph that the driver of a green Land Rover Discovery lost control of his vehicle and hit a Cambridgeshire Police firearms unit, a white BMW 5 series. The Land Rover then rolled a number of times, coming to a rest on its roof.

The collision took place on the A1 Northbound between A14 at Brampton Hut and the A1(M) at Alconbury.

A detour was set up but the road has now reopened.

The two male police officers involved in the collision are described as walking wounded, one suffering from back pain.

The other driver involved is also described as walking wounded.
