A woman is in hospital with a suspected spinal injury after her car crashed into a ditch near Ramsey on Wednesday evening (15 February).
The incident happened on the B1093 Whittlesey Road in Benwick, near Ramsey, at 7.20pm on Wednesday when a Citroen left the road and ended up in the ditch.
A woman in her 20s had to be cut from the car by firefighters from Ramsey and Dogsthorpe.
A Magpas Helimedix team arrived on the scene with the woman suffering back pain and a suspected spinal injury that resulted in numbness in her leg.
Her car was left at a 35-degree angle in the ditch and the doors and roof had to be removed to get her out.
The woman was in a serious but stable condition and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by land ambulance.
Dr Fiona Bowles, from Magpas, said, “With the car at an angle in a ditch, getting our patient out safely was difficult but the fire crew and the ambulance crew on the scene worked brilliantly as a team.”
