Council uses Twitter for gritter news

A NEW Twitter account has been launched to keep Lincolnshire motorists informed of which roads will and won’t be gritted during cold snaps.

Lincolnshire County Council has created a Gritter Twitter service using the account @LincsCC_Winter, which will be used to keep the public in the know about when gritters go out, advice on driving conditions and information on the work of the winter maintenance team.

Cllr William Webb, executive member for highways at the council, said: “By keeping up to date, the travelling public can better understand how the cold weather is affecting our roads before they set off on their journeys and it could prevent accidents and even save lives.”
