Bus station works ahead of schedule
Traffic and travel news from The Peterborough Evening Telegraph
COUNCIL bosses have announced that the first phase of maintenance work at the city’s bus station will be finished ahead of schedule.
This means phase two of the works at bus station at Queensgate will begin four days sooner than first planned by Peterborough City Council.
As a result, buses will leave from bays 1a to 10 at the bus station as normal from tomorrow and bays 10a to 20 will be closed.
Buses which usually run from those affected bays will depart from Acland Street coach park from Monday to Saturday until 6pm.
Buses departing after 6pm Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday will instead depart from an alternative bay at the bus station.
Cathy Summers, passenger transport team manager for the council, said: “Our original schedule was for the bus station to be open fully from Monday, February 20. Phase one has been completed ahead of schedule so we are hopeful that phase two will follow suit and the bus station will fully re-open before this date.
“We know that the essential works to improve passenger facilities at the bus station are causing an inconvenience to some passengers for a relatively short period, but we are trying to lessen the disruption as far as possible.
“We appreciate the patience of passengers thus far and will continue to press for the works to be completed as quickly as possible.”
