STEVE Castle was a popular Posh player between 1997 and 200 when Barry Fry dubbed him the club's 'captain Marvel'.He scored 20 goals in 123 Posh appearances, but before turning up at London Road on a free transfer from Birmingham City he was a far more prolific scorer for Leyton Orient and Plymouth.

Castle turned down the offer a new Posh contract after helping the club to promotion in the 1999-2000 season.

He instead took up a player-coach role at Orient and now manages St Albans in the Blue Square Conference South.

Winger Andy Rogers made 28 appearances for his local Posh team before going to help Plymouth of the Third Division to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1984 where they lost to Watford.

Rogers scored the only goal of the game in Plymouths's quarter-final win over Derby direct from a corner.

Posh paid Cambridge United 150,000 for goalkeeper Jon Sheffield in 1995 and sold him to Plymouth for 100,000 two years later.

Others to have played for both clubs include striker Dave Regis, defender Danis Salman and cult centre-back Gerry McElhinney.
