There is still time for owners of classic and vintage vehicles to register their engines to be the envy of visitors to the Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle show.

Already more than 400 vehicles have registered for the weekend show held on Peterborough’s Embankment on Saturday 5 September and Sunday 6 September.

The show is open to classic and vintage cars and caravans, motorcycles, scooters, commercial and agricultural vehicles, buses, ex-military and other forms of transport from yesteryear to modern classics.

Councillor Paula Thacker MBE, whose idea it was to hold the show in the city centre, said: “We will build on the success of the first Peterborough Classic and Vintage Vehicle show which saw a dazzling collection of vintages cars and buses park up on the Embankment for visitors to admire.

“We have already had a large number of vehicles register for the show and we still have capacity for more, so please do sign up as soon as you can.”

The show has so far attracted several owners clubs representing Jaguar, Triumph, Volkswagen, MG, Mini and Ford. The variety of vehicles confirmed range from Ferrari’s and Rolls Royce’s to Morris Minor’s and Ford Anglia’s.

Annette Joyce, service director for city services and communications at Peterborough City Council, added: “We are delighted once again to to be supporting this show. It is already attracting some of the region’s finest classic car clubs and vintage vehicle owners and it’s only in its second year. There was a superb, family friendly, atmosphere at the first event and I’m sure this will be surpassed this year.”

The event, which is free to attend, will also feature a host of shopping opportunities, hot food stalls and entertainment.

Proceeds from the sale of the show’s programme will be split between charities East Anglian Air Ambulance and Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

The show is open to the public from 10.30am on both Saturday and Sunday, vehicle owners can access the site from 7am on both days but must be parked by 9.15am.
