SLIDESHOW: VJ Day commemorations held in Peterborough’s Peace Garden

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of VJ Day, a service took place today at The Peace Garden in Central Park.

Led by Revd Greg Roberts, readings were given by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Colonel Peter Horrell and Mayor John Peach.

Among those who attended were members of the Gurkha Military Police Larry Howard and Mike Seabourne.

Margaret Gardiner proudly wore her dad Private Albert Weston’s medals and brought along a letter he received from King George V, while her husband Geoffrey Gardiner also donned his medals.

Meanwhile Kellan Christopher watched the service with his grandad Peter Hayward of the Parachute Regiment.
