The King’s Dyke level crossing in Whittlesey was closed off to motorists after the barriers became stuck in the down position.

Cambridgeshire police were alerted to the problem at 8.59pm on Thursday, April 9 by a member of the public.

As a result, the road was then closed at the entrance to McCain Foods about 9.30pm and a diversion put in place from the B1095 to Pondersbridge.

Police do not know what time the road re-opened.
