Review: Holiday On Ice, Spirit! at East of England Showground
I WAS left bedazzled by every twist, turn, jump and lift in last year's spectacular skating show.
I WAS left bedazzled by every twist, turn, jump and lift in last year's spectacular skating show. Therefore, when I arrived at Peterborough Exec on Wednesday night, I didn't set my hopes too high - confident there was no way artistic director Robin Cousins and choreographer Karen Kresge could put on a more exhilarating show.
Well I am happy to report, I was wrong.
From the moment they stepped on the ice to the final bow in the show finale, I was hooked.
I was unable to resist joining the audience with a few oohs and ahhs, not to mention those heart stopping moments when the gifted skaters perform their most daring lifts.
The latest Holiday on Ice production - Spirit - did as it said on the tin, and took me on a voyage from east to west, from sunrise to nightfall with a fusion of fire, air, earth and water.
It was complete with dramatic music, creative lighting, scene changes and more than 350 colourful costumes to keep my eyes glued to the ice.
Even under the watchful eye of Robin Cousins sitting in the front row, the truly talented skaters put on a show to remember, with speed, spirals, airborne gymnastics, hip hop dancing, and the most spectacular lifts and flips I have ever seen.
For all those Dancing On Ice fans out there - it is a show not to be missed.
