Helpston Gala is back with a bang on Saturday, June 11, taking place from noon until 4pm and followed on the Sunday by the Helpston Open Gardens event, running from 1pm to 6pm.

This year’s event will feature all the traditional favourites, including games, plenty of stalls to include plants, bric-a-brac and cakes, a barbecue and live music to entertain the crowds.

Make sure you take your four-legged friends along for the Fun Dog Show, where classes will include The Cutest Pup and The Dog with the Waggiest Tail.

New to the gala this year, and something to keep the young visitors busy, will be the double-decker playbus and a bouncy castle.

There will be exhibitions in the church and Pimms and beer, along with teas in the Village Hall.

Rev Dave Maylor said: “It was sad that last year we could not find enough people to get the gala up and running, but this year we have had a good response to our request for help.

“Now, with a lot of the hard work done, all that’s left is to put up the stalls and pray for good weather on the day.”
