Travellers have moved on from their second site in Peterborough after the city council issued an eviction notice.

The travellers had left the Pastures in Werrington before this morning (Monday, June 22) after being served the notice last Friday.

The travellers had previously forced the closure of a popular Peterborough play area, the Bretton Water Park, which was shut for a week after caravans moved onto land in Pyhill, Bretton on Tuesday, June 9.

Following their departure from Bretton, human excrement was found at Pyhill by Amey, the firm contracted by the council to manage cleaning services.

A council spokesman said Amey were being sent to Werrington to clean up now that the travellers had left.

He added that the council was unaware of the travellers having moved to another site.

Nobody from Amey is currently available to contact.
