Thursday 3pm: Some of the top cyclists in the country will return to Peterborough as the Tour Series returns to the city - a year after it was axed.

The Pearl Izumi Tour Series will come to Peterborough on Tuesday, 20 May 2014.

The race, which has attracted Olympic medallists in the past, first came to the city in 2009, and held races in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

However, last year the council cut funding for the race, saving £60,000.

In previous races, cyclists have sped round a course through the city centre, including Bridge Street and Cathedral Square.

The series will be shown on ITV4, and along with Peterborough visits nine other cities, including Edinburgh, London and Stoke.
