This evening (Thursday, November 26) councillors will scrutinise the first part of Peterborough City Council’s plans to tackle an overall budget deficit of £19.6 million.
The council last week unveiled how it would bridge £12.1 million of that deficit as it plans its budget for 2016/17.
Those plans will now be discussed by councillors who sit on council scrutiny committees and commissions, and recommendations can be made for the cabinet to consider as it formalises its budget proposals.
A scrutiny meeting before the last budget drew attention after three hours was pencilled in for debate, only for councillors to finish after half-an-hour which included time spent re-setting the microphones and electing a chair for the meeting.
To see if something similar happens this time, Peterborough Telegraph Joel Lamy will be providing updates throughout the meeting which starts at 6pm.
