The Peterborough and District Amateur Radio Club celebrated its 40th birthday last month.

The club invited members of the Radio Society of Great Britain to speak and the group enjoyed a cake to mark the occasion.

Club secretary Alan Ralph said: “The fact that we are a local club and have been going for 40 years is quite an achievement.”

Club founder and chairman Ron Smith (cutting the cake) joined Alan, his wife Tracey, George Kirk, Dave Sylvester and fellow members for the celebration.

The club meets at the Southfields Community Centre, Southfields Avenue, Stanground, on the fourth Wednesday of every month. To join, call 01733 753477 or visit http://www.radioclubs.net/padarc/.
