Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson met with members of a city mosque in what was described as a productive meeting.
The MP visited the Ahmadiyya Muslim community at the Gladstone Community Centre, Bourges Boulevard, early this month to discuss human rights and basic values.
Mashhood Saeed, the community’s general secretary and secretary for external affairs, said: “He highlighted the need for what we are doing in the community.
“He spoke of regions across the world where discrimination is going on.
“He was very happy to see the work done in the community by ourselves.
“He extended his full support and thanked us for the invite.”
The community will form part of a peace conference in Peterborough in 2015.
