It is tradition for the Peterborough Lido to open after the winter break with the city’s mayor jumping into the outdoor swimming pool, and Saturday was no different this time around.

The new Mayor of Peterborough Councillor John Peach was at the ribbon cutting opening ceremony on May 23, before allowing himself to be pushed into the pool.

Fortunately the weather held up and others were soon able to join the major in the water with the pool open to all for free on the opening day.

The pool, in Bishop’s Road, will now be available for the following few months.

It will be open daily from 9am-6am (May to June) and 9am-8pm (July-September), with an early Sunday swim from 7.30am.

Entry is £5.70 for adults and £4 for children.

For a family of four it is £16 or £25 with food.

Entrance is free for some Vivacity gym members and discounted with some Vivacity cards.
