Firefighters in Peterborough fell silent to mark a poignant moment and remember millions who gave their lives in battle.

Crews at Dogsthorpe Fire Station observed a minutes’ silence last night (Thursday) at the same time as The Last Post was played at the war memorial in Ypres, Belgium.

The Last Post is played every day at the memorial by local fire fighters, and last night was the 30,000th time it was played since the tradition was started in 1928.
