A team of Peterborough business motor mouths are hoping to smash a world record - and raise vital cash for charity at the same time
Rob Moore and Mark Homer, along with other colleagues from Progressive Property, will aim to break the Guiness World Record for the longest team speech - by talking non-stop for 100 hours.
The record attempt will begin on July 31, and the team will be raising money for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
In May last year Rob, who co-founded the Hampton based company, broke the record for the longest speech on his own, when he talked for 46 hours.
He has currently raised £70,000 in sponsorship for his latest record attempt, and is looking to raise even more aghead of the event.
Rob decided to try and break the records following the death of his nan, who died in a private care home. Following her death he visited Thorpe Hall, and saw the work they carried out.
He said: “ I’ve turned my attention from supporting Cancer charities (we’ve donated around £200K) to Sue Ryder, who have an amazing hospice ‘Thorpe Hall,’ that give people in their last days an amazing quality of life.
“As a charity, they need people like us to help our older generation families.
“That’s why we support Sue Ryder care. That’s why we’re going to break another world record and give them a big cheque.
“They care for the dying, extend their life and immeasurably increase the quality for not just the person but the entire family. We need more organisations in the world like Sue Ryder. Our target of £50,000 has been smashed; now at £70,000 but we need more. If anyone you love has died, if you’d want to help your family or have your family help you then please help us raise £100,000.”
