A pensioners’ club raised hundreds of pounds for charity at their pre-Christmas meal in Peterborough.

The National Federation of Pensioners group, which meets at the Post Office Club in Bourges Boulevard, raised £300 at their November meeting by holding a special dinner.

The money was split between the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Sue Ryder, with Heather Vigar, Anne Edis (Sue Ryder), Chris Glover (MNDA), Valerie Megicks and Sheila Gowler pictured at the presentation.

Valerie said: “We recently lost a member to motor neurone disease, and like everyone we have had a number of people affected by cancer.”

The club, which meets on the first Thursday of every month at 2pm, welcomes new members at their meetings.

Retired residents are welcome to attend the next meeting on February 5 at the Post Office Club,
