The column that shouts about views and issues concerning Peterborough from a variety of perspectives. This week’s writer is Mary Herdman, UKIP Parliamentary Candidate for Peterborough...

I would just like to thank everyone in the UKIP Peterborough branch who voted for me on Saturday.

It is a great honour to have been selected as the UKIP Parliamentary Candidate for Peterborough and I hope that you the electorate will vote for me on May 7, 2015.

I have lived in Peterborough for the last 18 years and I understand its problems and issues.

Now is the time for politics in Britain to change and if you vote UKIP next year you will get UKIP.

Peterborough is very much a winnable seat and with your vote we will overturn the Conservatives and stop Labour.

I am looking forward to the forthcoming campaign where UKIP can set out a positive vision for a free and independent Britain outside of the European Union.

I joined UKIP in 2003 because I was totally disillusioned with the views and policies of both Labour and the Conservatives.

I was fed up with their lies and broken promises. It is important that we need to take back control of our borders, our laws and our judicial system.

As a British citizen I want to leave the European Union which continually interferes in both local government and parliament. Their directives have eroded enterprise, industry, farming, fishing and local business.

If you would like to become a member of UKIP our email address is on the UKIP Peterborough website. We need more people joining Peterborough’s UKIP army next year in order to fight the General Election. I will be setting out UKIP’s policies in the next coming months, coverings such subjects as the NHS, Immigration, Welfare, Social Housing to name just a few.

UKIP’s policies are common sense policies. To control all the issues surrounding migration and benefits we will have to leave the European Union. Any Conservative, Liberal or Labour politician who claims otherwise are either willfully deceiving the British public, or startlingly unaware of how the EU operates. A frightening thought when they are supposed to be running the country.

Join us now and let’s remove the Westminster elite who are so out of touch with the ordinary people.
