Letter: Where will mosque worshippers park? - 05/02/10

Your article yesterday on the application to form a Kurdish Mosque in Garton Street contained several innaccuracies.

Your article yesterday on the application to form a Kurdish Mosque in Garton Street contained several innaccuracies. For a start, the street is not in Milfield as stated, but at the top of Park Road in what is known locally as Garton End. Also, it's not three miles from the city centre, being only slightly more than one mile from Cathedral Square and nowhere near where I believe most of the Kurds live.

Anyone who knows this tiny street will surely be horrified to think that it could house a mosque for at least 50 people who will live a fair distance from the location. Where on earth are they all going to park?

The road leads off into Garton End Road and the roundabout with Park and Dogsthorpe Roads and the increased traffic will cause a hazard to the children attending Thomas Deacon and All Saints' Schools.

I for one will be opposing this totally inappropriate application and urge all other local residents to do the same.
