British Empire Medals have been handed out to a 94-year-old woman from Bourne and a watch manager at Lincolnshire Fire And Rescue Service in the New Year Honours List.

Dorothy Alexander, who is receiving her medal for services to the community, has been involved with the Bourne Women’s Institute since 1947, serving in many offices of the committee and being involved in many fundraising events.

Much of this time was spent delivering Meals on Wheels and in the past she ran the trolley shop at Digby Court care home.

She was also Chair of the Bourne Youth Club Management Committee.

Richard King (47) is receiving his medal for services to Fire and Rescue and to Emergency Medical Care

The man from Spalding led the first crew to test the concept of the Joint Ambulance Conveyance Project. The project involves retained firefighters deploying to medical incidents in their own ambulance.
