New three day gaming convention moves to Peterborough United’s ABAX stadium

A large three-day gaming convention with elite competitors and workshops will now take place at Peterborough United’s ABAX Stadium in London Road.

The event called CITYLAN is Peterborough’s first eSports, Careers and Tech expo.

It will see top teams from the United States, Sweden and the UK participate in live Call of Duty tournaments on both the XBOX One and Playstation 4.

Workshops will include how to programme an Arduino robot and a webinar from Tim Browne, a leading designer on the game Assassin’s Creed.

A fully sized Formula One car will also be on display.

In addition, a giant screen of 157 inches by 118 inches opposite the guildhall in the city centre will be showing matches of the game Fifa and other parts of the convention.

The three-day event begins on on Thursday, August 20 at 10am.

It was previously due to be held at the Kingsgate Conference Centre in Staplee Way, Parnwell but will now hold more people.

Admission to the event is free for the careers and technology expo and £35 for a family ticket (one adult and three children or two adults and two children) or £12.50 for a one-day spectator ticket to the main stage Minecraft events with ASHDUBH and the eSports tournaments run by the European Gaming League.

Admission to the bring your own computer or console event, for a full 62 hour gaming session, is £45 where you can participate in daily tournaments with cash prizes and hardware available.

Food and drinks are available during the day with webinars throughout.
