Peterborough Queensgate shopping centre’s head of marketing has won praise at a prestigious national awards ceremony.

Interim head of marketing Laura Briers received a highly commended accolade in the Young Achiever of the Year category at the Sceptre Awards.

Held at the Dorchester Hotel, in London, the Sceptre Awards recognises the best practice and the best people in the shopping centre industry.

Laura (29) has worked in the marketing team for more than five years and was selected over dozens of entrants and invited to attend the glitzy ceremony.

Part of the judges’ decision was confirmed by her ability to apply knowledge and experience in marketing and transform it into a highly professional representation of Queensgate Shopping Centre.

Over the past six months, she has overseen and implemented one of Queensgate Shopping Centre’s largest ever rebranding projects.

Called ‘It’s all going on at Queensgate, Peterborough’, the campaign, say Queensgate bosses, has shaped the look and feel of the centre for 2015 to attract shoppers as well as new retailers.

She was also pivotal to the #L8 campaign, which promotes the late night shopping message at Queensgate on Thursdays and Fridays.

The successful campaign launched in 2014 and is continuing throughout 2015.

She said: “I am overwhelmed to have received such recognition by the leading figures of the shopping centre industry.

“I am incredibly passionate about my position at Queensgate and the responsibility it holds.

“The role allows you to be creative, work with a wide range of people and agencies, and deliver a finished product to the public. To receive recognition in the Young Achiever category is a wonderful career highlight.”

Centre director, Mark Broadhead, said: “Well done to Laura, this is a great achievement for her and her career in marketing. As a new member to the team, I look forward to working with her to continue in her successes.”
