Maintenence to be carried out on Peterborough Embankment willows
Peterborough City Council, in partnership with Amey will be undertaking the cyclical works program on the weeping willows on the embankment which have been identified for pollarding during March. Pollarding is the process of cutting the top branches to encourage new growth.
The work will be carried out on a five to seven year program dependant on their growth to ensure that they can be safely retained and ensure that they suffer no large part or whole tree failures as a result of excessive wind due to their exposed location.

Several other sites including Broadway and Alexander Road have also been identified for pollarding works to ensure free passage of vehicles along the highway. For questions and comments please contact the Tree Services Team on 01733 425 323.
