Sarah Fletcher (44)is Assistant General Secretary of Peterborough Council for Voluntary Service (PCVS) and parent governor of the Deepings School. What is most enjoyable about your job or voluntary role?

No two days are the same, after 13 years the job continues to bring new challenges and new faces.

What is your favourite thing about Peterborough?

The easy road systems to enable me to get home to Lincolnshire (I am a true yellowbelly).

What has been the most satisfying moment in your job or voluntary role?

I have so many moments it's hard to choose. Getting Lottery funding to help us move premises in 1998 was fantastic. Setting up the annual volunteers awards event, which is now in its 14th year, was good especially when someone said to me at one of the events that it was the first time they had ever been thanked as a volunteer. As I have already mentioned, the job is so varied I feel lucky to be part of such a great organisation.

What is your biggest hope for the rest of 2009?

It has to be that the economy picks up. The amount of pressure on the voluntary sector groups from people needing help is greater than ever before. I hope when things do get better that we all learn this time to live a little more frugally.

If money was no object, what one single thing would you do to help Peterborough?

Build a concert hall that would attract lots of national and international acts. It is so costly for people across the area to travel to places such as London. It needs to be in an area that is easy to get to with exceptional parking. Something like this would help to put the city on the map.
