Sponsored walk raises £1,000

A PENSIONER put his best foot forward to raise at least £1,000 for charity.

Alan Lamb (71), from Farcet, completed the 10-mile sponsored walk for Parkinson’s UK with his grandchildren Rosie (18) and Natalie (16) McNally and his friend Jack Leftley (66) on March 31.

They were inspired by his daughter Susan McNally, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 30, and wanted to raise money for the charity’s Peterborough branch because of the support it has given her over time.

They completed it in four-and-a-half hours and while the total amount is still be counted up Mrs McNally said they have raised at least £1,000.

She said: “On route they were stopped by a lady who enquired if they were ramblers.

“But when she found out it was a sponsored walk, she donated £10 on the spot.

“Alan said he thoroughly enjoyed the walk and I am extremely proud of all of them.

“We would like to thank everyone who sponsored them.”
