NEW electronic signs have been installed in Peterborough's Queensgate centre to give shoppers up to the minute information about bus services.Peterborough City Council have teamed up with Queensgate to install the screens outside the John Lewis store, on the first floor, which sits above the city bus station.
The signs give up-to-the-minute information on Stagecoach and Local Link bus services, showing when they depart from the station and arrive at bus stops along their route. They also show which bay number buses leave from. This is made possible by trackers fitted to the buses. Services run by other operators are to be added to the boards in the coming weeks.
Queensgate centre director Roger Hutchings said: "Easy access to reliable timetables is an essential element of any initiative to increase use of public transport."
Councillor Peter Hiller, city council cabinet member for neighbourhoods, housing and community development, welcomed the idea and added: "We would like to hear what the public think to the display boards."
Feedback forms are available from Queensgate information kiosk.
