THE public are to have their say on proposed sites for new housing, businesses and gypsies and travellers.A six-week consultation on the Peterborough Site Allocations Document will begin in March, after it was approved for publication by Peterborough City Council's cabinet yesterday.

Potentially contentious allocations include new 'district centres', featuring more than 1,280 homes in Bretton, Hampton, Millfield, Orton and Werrington and the loss of allotment land for housing developments.

The document proposes 10 permanent pitches and six transit plots, for travelling events such as circuses, for land east of Eye, plus four permanent pitches for land near Farcet. Land next to Norwood Lane has been earmarked for a transit site able to accommodate 10 pitches.
