Pride: Luck turns for pin-up Susie

THIS week's Pride In Peterborough front page has been presented to RAF Wittering pin-up girl Susie Hutson.

THIS week's Pride In Peterborough front page has been presented to RAF Wittering pin-up girl Susie Hutson.Mum-of-one Susie, from Westlake Avenue in Hampton, Peterborough, has beaten off competition from 12 other finalists, all voted for on the internet, to win a 50,000 lingerie contract.

As the new face of Wickedelic lingerie, she is set to appear in catalogues and adverts across the country.

She said: "I am still in shock, I didn't expect to win. I'm really excited."

Along with the other 11 finalists, Susie will appear on a fund-raising calendar for military charities Help For Heroes and Combat Stress.

Due to the military theme, Susie asked bosses at RAF Wittering if she could be their official forces sweetheart, visiting the base when troops leave and being there to greet them on their return from tours of duty.

The aim was partly to raise her profile for the competition – but also to highlight the work of the Wittering troops, who are due to go out to Afghanistan in the coming weeks.

Personnel from the 3 Squadron RAF Regiment will be sent to the Kandahar province to defend the perimeter of Camp Bastion.

The advance party will leave on November 28, with the main body of troops following on December 3.

Susie recently paid a visit to Wittering to see members of the regiment before they depart and during the visit, something occurred to bring the forces even closer to her heart.

She said: "I met a guy there. He's due to fly out on December 3 but I have said I will wait for him. I really don't want him to go but he has to.

"It's quite tough out there for them. It's a horrible time of year for them to be

going out, with Christmas coming.

"Six months is a long time to be away from loved ones and they say it's nice to have something to boost morale."

Susie says entering the Wickedelic competition has halted her previous run of bad luck – she was left on her own when pregnant with Josh, then was made redundant just before his birth.

Now, she has a 50,000 modelling deal, a career ahead of her and love on the

horizon.

She said: "It's a real turning point. I want to inspire other mums. However big or small your dream, you have to go for it."

Susie says she will continue supporting British forces. She is planning to visit injured soldiers and would consider flying out to see troops overseas.

She said: "I will always do as much as I can. They are such an amazing bunch of guys and what they do is incredible. Being involved with them is, in a way, a bigger honour than winning the competition."

The charity calendar will be on sale through www.wickedeliclingerie.co.uk
