Students in Peterborough looking to enhance their employability are being invited to attend a volunteering fair to be held next Thursday, October 18.

University Centre Peterborough, in Park Crescent, is hosting the fair between 10am and 3pm to promote volunteering opportunities to its students and for organisations across the region to recruit.

The centre reckons that volunteering can ensure its students apply for jobs upon leaving with added employability, as they add some experience to their qualifications.

Organisations already confirmed to attend include SHARP (Sedgeford Historical & Archaeological Research Project), Cambridgeshire police, Crimestoppers and the Papworth Trust.

Liz Knight, academic director at University Centre Peterborough, said: “Volunteering is an excellent way for students to not only improve their employability but also to actively contribute something to society.

It gives them the chance to participate in social enterprise which is a key target for both the University Centre and also Peterborough Regional College.”

For more information on the courses offered at the University Centre, visit www.peterborough.ac.uk/ucp or call 0845 1965750.
